The Belianske Tatry Mountains form a distinctive 14 km long limestone ridge, stretching in the east-west direction, lying almost perpendicular to the main ridge of the High Tatras.

The point of contact of these geologically distinct mountain ranges is a tourist accessible Kopské sedlo. The glacier activity from the original glaciation of the Tatras hardly marked the Belianske Tatras. We do not find here moraines, rock thresholds, terraces, or massive escarpments so characteristic of the neighbouring mountains. However, the attention the beauty of the limestone and dolomite walls with steep grassy slopes and rich vegetation.

The landmarks of the distinctive western part of the main ridge (after the Broad Saddle) include Jousting fork. The highest peak The Raven (2151,5 m.n.m) is, like the other peaks, inaccessible for tourists. The mountain is an important karst area. Of the many caves, the most accessible is the Belianska Cave above the Tatranská Kotlina settlement. From the settlement there is also suitable access to the only mountain chalet in the Belianske Tatras, Plesnivec cottage (1290 m) below Bujačí vrch.
The mountain is not decorated by any lake, but it is still considered the most beautiful and naturally richest part of the Tatras. The nourishing calcareous soils here, unlike the High Tatras, offer much more diverse flora. For all species, let us mention the most typical flower - the Alpine mouldflower (Leontopodium alpinum).

The first visitors to the mountains were probably sheep herders (14th century). From the 17th century, charcoal was burnt and copper and other ores were mined in the area. Access to a large part of the Belianske Tatry area has been closed since 1978 by the TANAP Administration. The main reason is the protection of rare species of flora and fauna and the natural environment of this part of the national park.
