Originally a Greek Catholic wooden church - Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, Hutka
In the small village of Hutka, located in the western part of the Carpathian arch, lies one of the unique wooden churches typical of Eastern Slovakia - the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin.
The first Greek Catholic church was built in Hutka in the last third of the 18th century and is consecrated to St. Cosmas and Damian. The church has three towers of different heights. The church completely burnt down during the World War I in 1915. Eight years later, a simpler wooden temple with many original elements was built in its place. It was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and is used by the Orthodox Church. Nowadays, the church has only one tower instead of three.
In the wooden church there are many artifacts from the 18th century which have been preserved from the original building.
The wooden church in Hutka has the status of a national cultural monument.
