The wooden Greek Catholic Church of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin, Jedlinka
The wooden Greek Catholic Church of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin in Jedlinka was built in 1763 and represents a typical Lemko variant of the typical Ruthenian-Ukrainian three-part and three-tower wooden churches.
The church was consecrated to the Byzantine (Eastern Orthodox) holiday "The Protection of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary", which celebrates the Mother of God as the protector of the Earth.
The three-room building consists of a shrine, a nave and a vestibule. Each part has its own tower with a dome and a cross. Unique triangular-shaped sound holes are carved in the main temple tower.
The interior of this wooden church is exceptional thanks to the iconostasis, which is one of the rarest in Slovakia. In addition to it, there are also other valuable historical sacral objects, such as a set of wooden baroque candlesticks or liturgical books from the 17th century.
