The wooden Greek Catholic Church of Saints Cosmos and Damian, Lukov – Venécia
The Greek Catholic wooden church of Saints Cosmos and Damian in Lukov - Venécia originally stood in the village of Nová Ves near Nowy Sącz in Poland. The inhabitants of Venécia bought the temple and transported it to their village. Their efforts were completed by the consecration in 1708.
The efforts were documented thanks to a donation inscription from 1654 on the icon of the Blessed Virgin - Hodigitria, which is located on the south wall of the church.
The three-room log church stands on stone foundations and is the only one in Slovakia with a basement. The temple has three towers, each of which is finished with an original wrought iron cross. In the west tower there are two bells from 1755 and 1886.
A comprehensive renovation of the exterior and interior of the wooden church in Lukov - Venécia took place in the years 2005 - 2008.
