Poloniny National Park Information Centre
The building of the Poloniny National Park Information Centre is the easternmost house in Slovakia
The centre provides information to visitors daily during the summer tourist season. In addition, it is used for scientific purposes, hosting many conservation events, nature conservation competitions, conferences, lectures and seminars. Visitors can even stay here.
In front of the building of the Poloniny National Park Information Centre is the fossil of a worm – Taphrehminthoida plana. Traces of this animal originated in the sediments of the sea between the Palaeocene – the Middle Eocene, thus about 25 million years ago. The fossil was discovered in the riverbed of the Cirocha River near Stakčín.
The exterior of the Information Centre is complemented with plastic maps, information boards and a small exposition on animal life.
