Lačnov Canyon
The Lačnov Canyon is a picturesque gorge in the northeastern part of Branisko between the villages of Lipovce and Lačnov made by the Lačnov brook.
This beautiful locality can be found in maps and in literature under various names - most often it is Lačnov Canyon, but some also call it the Little Slovak Paradise.
The gorge is about 2 km long and at the bottom it widens in some places. After heavy rain, waterfalls form in the straits.
In 1965, this area was declared a state nature reserve under the name Kamenná baba. The reserve boasts with rare and diverse vegetation. In the rocks there are also famous caves Komín (the Chimney) and Zlá Diera (Evil Hole Cave). You can cross the canyon along the red tourist mark from Lipovce to Lačnov.
The village of Lačnov in a mountainous terrain has been well-preserved (as one of the few in Slovakia). The atmosphere is completed by cottages with wells and wooden gutters, in which flows crystal clear water. Currently, only 10 inhabitants live in the village permanently.
