The three ridges run down from the pyramid-shaped peak – the highest point around. Since 1940, the peak is accessible by a cable car from Tatranská Lomnica. That is also the reason why Lomnický Peak became the most visited peak of the Tatras. The cable car overcomes a height difference of more than 1,700 m and transports tourists to an altitude of 2,634 m. The cable car station at the end of the lift is connected to the premises of the astronomical and meteorological workplace. In good weather, the Lomnický Peak offers a unique 360° view. At good visibility, it is possible to even see as far as the Polish lowlands. When facing the opposite direction, you can get a glimpse of a fifth of the territory of Slovakia with just naked eye! Since May 2008, visitors to the Lomnický Peak can enjoy a natural botanical garden. The weather station at Lomnický Peak is the highest weather station in Slovakia. In the fifties of the 20th century, the employees of the laboratory of cosmic rays physics and the coronal station of SAS’s Astronomical Institute constructed there an astronomy center. The Lomnický Peak also features the highest placed payphone.

The ascent is allowed only with mountain guide.
