At the end of the valley Malá Studená dolina (Small Cold Valley), in the basin Kotlina Piatich spišských plies, five different mountain lakes called Päť spišských plies (Five Spiš mountain lakes) are situated.

The highest-placed of them is the mountain lake Vyšné Spišské pleso (Upper Spiš mountain lake) at an altitude of 2,022 meters above sea level, and the lowest-placed is the mountain lake Nižné Spišské pleso (Lower Spiš mountain lake) at an altitude of 1,999 meters above sea level. Near Téry’s Cottage there is the mountain lake Prostredné Spišské pleso (Middle Spiš mountain lake) (2,010 meters above sea level), which is 7 m deep. The largest of them is the mountain lake Veľké Spišské pleso (Large Spiš mountain lake). It covers an area of 3.5 ha and lies at an altitude of 2,011 meters above sea level. The last mountain lake is Malé Spišské pleso (Small Spiš mountain lake) (2,000 meters above sea level).

Hiking trail

Visitors to the valley Malá Studená dolina (Small Cold Valley) and the mountain lakes Päť spišských plies (Five Spiš mountain lakes) can use of services (accommodation) of Téry’s Cottage all year round. The green-marked tourist trail leading from Starý Smokovec through Hrebienok, past Zámkovského Cottage to the valley Malá Studená dolina passes right along it. The trail then continues through Sedielko to the valley Javorova dolina and ends in Tatranská Javorina. From there, the yellow-marked tourist trail leads across the saddle Priečne sedlo to Zbojnícka Cottage.
