Rákoczi Palace in Prešov
The most beautiful city palace of the Upper Austria-Hungary - such a noble title was given to this 16th century Renaissance building in the most lucrative location in Prešov.
Its elegant architecture and beautiful sgraffito decorations are still the pride of Hlavná Street. It goes without any doubt that the Rákoczi Palace is one of the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in Slovakia.
Sigismund Rákoczi took care of the construction of the palace by rebuilding two burgher houses. The current form of the building, defined mainly by the façade with windows in the arches, topped by an unmissable attic, dates back to the 17th century (renovation in the late Renaissance style).
