Mountian lake Skalnaté pleso (High Tatras)
The mountain lake Skalnaté pleso (1,751 above sea level) is one of the most popular tourist places in the High Tatras. Enjoy a ride in one of the two cable cars that will take you to this magnificent spot. From the valley station in Tatranska Lomnica, a 4-seat cable car runs to the station “Štart”, from where you will be taken to the mountain lake Skalnaté pleso by a new modern 15-seat cable car.

From the mountain lake Skalnaté pleso you can take a cable car to the Lomnicky Peak (2,634 m) and enjoy unforgettable views of the surrounding peaks of the highest mountains in Slovakia. At the top you can relax in the stylish Dedo Café and enjoy the highest-placed botanical garden.
From the mountain lake Skalnaté pleso you can also get to Lomnicke Saddle, which lies at an altitude of 2,190 meters and is a wonderful sightseeing place. Once a tourist trail led from the mountain lake Skalnate pleso to the Lomnické Saddle, but it has since been removed. The only way to get there is to take the cable car. Once you get off, you can continue along the green-marked tourist trail to the Lomnická Tower (2,215 m).

How to get to the mountain lake Skalnaté pleso?

During the summer season, children can get to know interesting places of the Tatras in a fun and educational way. There are 7 interesting stages prepared for them focusing on the Tatras wilderness. Children can also look forward to Adventure Weekends at the mountain lake Skalnaté pleso, where they can enjoy a rich program, creative workshops, competitions and interesting stories about the Tatras.
On the way back by the cable car from the mountain lake Skalnate pleso, you can stop at the station Štart and take a ride on adrenaline mountain carts and scooters all the way to Tatranská Lomnica (a 3 km-long track). The ride takes 5 to 10 minutes. This safe and customizable ride is suitable even for complete beginners.
During the winter season you can enjoy skiing on the highest and steepest slope in Lomnické Saddle. This 6.5 km long ski slope will satisfy even the most demanding skiers. There are also opportunities for alpine skiing, especially the ski slope that leads from Tatranská Lomnica to Skalnatá Cottage and back.
