Military Historical Museum in Svidník
The museum department of Svidník is part of the Military Historical Museum based in Piešťany.
Its activities carry on the tradition of the Dukla Museum, which was established in 1965. The museum premises were ceremonially opened on 4 October 1969 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Carpathian-Dukla operation.
The museum department is home to exposition, depository and administrative spaces. The Military History Museum – Museum Department Svidník currently has 10,114 collection items registered.
It specializes in documenting the military history of Slovakia immediately before and during the First World War in the Eastern Carpathians, the interwar period and the Second World War, with an emphasis on the Carpathian-Dukla operation, the partisan movement and the liberation of Slovakia in 1944 – 1945.
