Baňa Hill (nature, hiking and sports, for children)
If you want to discover the surroundings of Stropkov, be sure not to miss the sandstone hill Baňa with an altitude of 526 meters above sea level, which rises above the village of the same name.
Baňa Hill lies in the Low Beskydy Mountains and although it does not make an impressive impression at first, you will be all the more surprised by the nice views of the surrounding villages, the town of Svidník, Slanské Mountains, the Čergov Mountains, the ridge of the Vihorlatské Moutains or the Laborec Mountains all year round. In good weather, you can also see parts of the High Tatras.
At the top there is a renovated tourist shelter. After the hike, you can enjoy your hard-earned break sitting on one of the benches and learning about the fauna and flora from the information boards.
You can get to the Baňa Hill along the well-maintained hiking trails from the villages of Baňa, Šandal, Šarišský Štiavnik or Rakovčík. Trails from Stropkov, Šandal and Hrabovčík are recommended for cyclists.
If you have some energy left, from the Baňa Hill you can take the blue-marked trail to the former spa in Šarišský Štiavnik, where you can admire mineral carbon dioxide and calcium sulfur springs.
