War cemetery in Hunkovce

War cemetery of German soldiers in Hunkovce dates back to the Second World War. On the basis of the Czechoslovak-German Intergovernmental Neighbourhood Agreement and the declaration of the two governments on the search, maintenance and care of war graves of 1992, the German private humanitarian organisation People's Association for the Care of German War Graves rebuilt it in 1994. It was consecrated in 1995.

The cemetery in Hunkovce found its place the final resting place of nearly 3 100 German soldierswho died during the Carpatho-Dukla operation. On the graves there are crosses with names, details and military ranks, with four fallen listed on each side of the cross.

The cemetery is characterized by central cross, which stands in a mule filled with water and supplied from a spring located above the cemetery. The wooden entrance building is a typical regional architectural feature. The fence around the cemetery is covered with wooden shingles.
