SNP Memorial - Levoča Hills

The Levoča Hills, interwoven with a dense network of forest and asphalt roads, are a popular destination for cyclists from the surrounding area.

One of the traditional destinations of trips to this area is memorial to the victims of the Second World War situated under the Javorina mountain, at an altitude of 1134 m. This memorial stands on the spot where a Soviet transport plane was shot down by a German fighter during the Slovak National Uprising. Of the 16 people who rode in the machine, only five survived the tragedy - four Soviet crew members and one Czechoslovak soldier.

Near the memorial there is tourist shelter with a beautiful view not only of the Levoča Mountains, but also of the High and Low Tatras. The starting point for hikes to this area can be the town of Levoca.
