The Pusté Pole Nature Reserve, declared protected in 1983, is a xerothermic meadow on andesite bedrock located in the Slánské Hills between the villages of Zlatá Baňa and Červenica.
Here grows the richest population of ponyclec (Pulsatila grandis) in the whole Slánské Hills. In the last decades, the localities of this species have been greatly reduced in the territory of Slovakia due to reclamation works or gradual overgrowing of the habitats. Therefore, management in the form of extensive mowing and grazing is necessary in this area, which is provided by our administration at two-yearly intervals.
