Rest area Poľana

The Poľana site is located near the village of Nová Sedlica at an altitude of 430 m above sea level. It is approximately 1.5 kilometres from the village. It can be reached by an asphalt road. It is a frequent place of rest not only for tourists. There is also a wooden shelter by the local pond, which, if you are lucky, will also offer you a view of some aquatic animals. It was built by the local municipality. It is often used as a shelter by tourists who enjoy the beautiful views from the nearby Riaba Rock or the Stužica Forest, which is located on the route to the Kremenec tri-border point. It is under Riaba Rock that the Zbojský brook, flowing near Poľana, rises, where in summer you can find a few hardy people. The water in it has a low temperature even during the hottest days, so it is very refreshing after a long hike.

Even the little ones will have no shortage of fun when visiting and relaxing at Poľana. There is an insect hotel there, where some guests make themselves at home for longer. Through the information boards you will learn a lot of interesting things about the life of animals.

You can take a very easy hike or walk along the asphalt road to the Meadow of Honey Baby - the route there and back can take you 2.5 to 3 hours at a leisurely walk. There you will find a seven-metre high wooden sculpture and a log beehive. Both objects commemorate the renowned beekeeper Žofia Matašovská, who moved to Nová Sedlica in 1928. She took care of about 80 hives and her quality honey was also used by chocolate factories in Kolín.

Do not miss a visit to the pond on the Zbojský brook, which is only a short walk from the Medová Baba. You are still walking uphill on the paved road. There you will get incredible views of the surrounding nature.
