The Regional Tourism Organization of Northeast Slovakia announced the 12th year of the popular photography competition Go and take pictures. The competition is intended for amateur and professional photographers. Their task is to capture the beauty and attractions of the Prešov region. The competition lasts until 13 October 2024.
The photographic competition for the most beautiful shots of the Prešov region has already had eleven successful years and the interest in it is growing every year. In the previous year, the competition involved record 222 authors with over 800 photographs. Popular competition culminates each year with an opening and travelling exhibition final photos. The GRAND PRIX winner will receive hiking boots from the company BOSP.
Photographs in all categories must be taken on the territory of the Prešov Region.
There are 7 categories in the competition:
- Nature
a) Landscape photography
b) Fauna & flora
c) Tourism - Culture, traditions and history
- Sport and leisure activities
- Black & white
- Man and region (portraits, interesting photographs from the life of the inhabitants of the region)
- Architecture (photos of buildings - interior, exterior)
- Special category 2024: Poloniny (the beauty of Polonín, authentic nature, wooden temples, people and experiences from Poloniny)
Any photographer can apply max. 7 images in total into seven categories by email chodafot@severovychod.sk or deliver it to the KOCR Northeast Slovakia headquarters until 13 October 2024.
The chairman of the jury will again be Jano Štovka MQEP - a well-known Slovak photographer who has won numerous international awards. The jury will be complemented by professional photographers from Slovakia and abroad and, as every year, there will also be a name from the world of show business.

Ceny a ocenenia
In addition to the prizes for each category, KOCR Northeast of Slovakia will also award the following prizes at the end of the competition Grand Prix, Cenu predsedu poroty, Cenu Severovýchod Slovenska a Cenu verejnosti.

Interesting prizes await the award-winning photographers once again. The Grand Prix winner can look forward to quality hiking boots from a Slovak company BOSP. The evaluation of the competition will be associated with the opening of the traditional travelling exhibition of the final photographs, which will visit many places not only in Slovakia but also abroad every year.
"We invite photography enthusiasts to the Prešov region. Show us through photographs the places, people and situations that have enchanted or inspired you and we will present them to the general public. We are looking forward to all your shots, this year with a special emphasis on the unique Poloniny!" invites Martin Janoško, director of KOCR Northeast Slovakia, to enter the competition.
"The Prešov Region proves what it is nevyčerpateľnou studnicou krásy a emócií, ktoré ponúka. Je to zdroj námetov for every artistic soul that slumbers in man, but at the same time it is a challenge for every hiker, sportsman or nature enthusiast. I am delighted with every year of this competition, which originally presents this most photogenic region of Slovakia," said Jano Štovka (MQEP), chairman of the jury.
