Jarovnice Manor House

The first written mention of the village Jarovnice dates back to 1260. At the beginning of the 14th century there were two settlements Vyšné and Nižné Jarovnice, which merged in the 15th century and belonged to several noble families.

The dominant feature is the Baroque rebuilt two-storey manor house. The manor house was built by the Szinyei familywho were the patrons of the parish church and churches in the surrounding villages in the 1870s. In those times it was surrounded by beautiful parks with hundreds of native and foreign trees - giants. According to sources preserved in the Szinyei family chronicles, the foundations of the manor were laid by Bank bán, who had a hunting lodge there. The ground-floor part with its massive vaults and one-metre-thick walls is very old. The two-storey extension was probably built by Szinyei's ancestors. Szinyei Merse Ladislav with his wife Anna Máriássý. The simplicity of the building is accentuated by the double mansard roof.

In the building of the manor welcomed the visitor around 16 rooms of various sizes with many corridors and stairs. In the past, magnificent ceramic kilns of various shapes, sizes and decorations were rare. Their interesting feature was that they did not have heating vents from the roomsbut from hidden passages, like tunnels, between rooms. Upstairs, in the middle part, there was an interesting spacious oval hall about 15 metres long with a massive vault. In the past, its original decoration of frescoes from 1789, depicting mythological scenes of Saturn, Cleia and Diana, was astonishing. In the north-eastern part of the mansion is a two-storey extension with spiral stairs and a domed tower. On the façade of the manor house, the Szinyei family coat of arms carved in granite attracts attention: a winged angel with a fish in its arms. The coat of arms is currently located in the local cemetery in the middle of the iron enclosure of the family tomb of Sziynei Merse.
