Piarist monastery with a church in Podolínec

The Piarist monastery with the church in Podolínec is one of the important landmarks of this small town. The early baroque building was built in the northeastern part of Podolínec behind the walls in 1642 - 1648 according to the plans and under the supervision of the Viennese builder Pochsberger.

The monastery building with four towers is two-storeyed and in the centre of it is located two-tower churchwhich divides the inner courtyard into two parts. The patron saint of the church is the Bishop of Cracow, the martyr St. Stanislaus, whose image is above the entrance to the church. The church has a beautiful slender 44 m high towers. The façade of the church is unusually beautiful and makes a breathtaking impression.

The Church of St. Stanislaus in Podolínec aesthetically surpasses the two-tower churches in Košice and Prešov. The horizontal division is accentuated by a strong cornice, above which is an iron pavilion. The present finishing of the towers has a rococo flavour. The interior of the church is characterised by a beautiful Baroque space, where the jagged white cornice acts as a veil for the Lamb's betrothed.
