The Rough Bastion in Bardejov is a five-storey bastion with an elongated semicircular ground plan, whose weight protrudes significantly into the fortified foreground.
It was built at the end of the 15th century and served as a cannon bastion. It got its name from the thickness of the perimeter walls, which reaches up to 3.5 m.
Rough bastion together with the armoury building was the most effective and progressive element of the city's defence.
