Gatehouse

The Lačnovský Canyon is a picturesque gorge with a length of about two kilometres, dug by the Lačnovský Brook. It belongs to the protected area of the Kamenná Baba National Nature Reserve and is accessible by a nature trail, the starting points of which are the village of Lipovce and the settlement of Lačnov. The trail in the Lačnov Canyon is equipped in several parts with metal steps, ladders, footbridges and auxiliary chains.

The surroundings of the Lačnov Canyon offer many other interesting places. The most famous ones include the ruins of Lipov Castle from the 13th century, also known as the Castle Castle, the Zlá hole cave or the Srdiečko sightseeing footbridge on the way to the cave. Attention is also attracted by an optical illusion called the Lačnovská anomaly in front of the village of Lačnov. Although the terrain of the road appears to be rising, it actually falls, giving the impression that objects are rolling uphill. OThe area is rich in mineral springs, the most famous being the Salvator Spring. Lovers of traditional folk architecture like to visit the village of Lačnov, which is a rural conservation area.

Part of the nature reserve Kamenná Baba is its rock formation known as Vrátnica. It is a rock tower about forty metres high. Although the surroundings of Vrátnice do not offer any interesting views, this rock is one of the favourite sites of the visitors of the Lačnov Canyon.

The route to the Gateway through the Lačnov Canyon starts at the entrance gate in the village of Lipovce. Then just follow the red hiking signs to the restored ladder. From there, you need to orient yourself using the yellow markings and follow the path steeply uphill.
