The Upper Šariš region is a popular tourist area with many cultural and natural beauties and viewpoints. One of them is the lookout tower at the Dukla Pass.

The lookout tower here is not the first to be built on this site. In 1944 an observatory of the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps of General Ludvík Svoboda was built here. In 1959 it was replaced by a 25-metre high wooden tower, which served until 1968. Three years later it was reconstructed and took on the form of a monolith with two viewing platforms. It was opened to the public in 1974.

The tower is 50 m high and offers a magnificent view over the Slovak and Polish sides of the border, where in 1944 a battle was fought against the German army.
