Zyndranowa is a village located in the heart of the Low Beskid Mountains, just below the main ridge of the Carpathians, about 2 km from the Dukla Pass. The village was founded before 1399. Zyndranowa was severely damaged during the two world wars. The village was once considered the capital of eastern Lemkos.

In 1897 a Greek-Catholic church was built in the village with the ground plan in the shape of a cross, a form that resembles that of the Hutsul architecture. The church survived both world wars, but it was greatly damaged. Therefore, the Lemko authorities who returned after displacement, promised to get permission to build a new church. This promise was not kept, however, and for more than 20 years services were held in the so-called district house. Only in 1985 was the new brick Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas built, which is the local parish church. This was the first church built in the Lemko region after the Second World War.

Museum of Lemko Culture

The museum was founded in 1968 on the initiative of a native of Zyndranowa – Teodor Gocz – in order to preserve the culture of Lemkos living in these areas prior to 1947. A point of interest of the open-air museum is a house dating from 1860, where you can find many monuments from the land of the Lemkos: stables, a granary, a chapel, a gypsy blacksmith’s workshop, a windmill and a well. The museum also contains a Jewish house and an exhibition presenting the monuments to the fighting that took place here before the end of the Second World War (Carpathian-Dukla operation).
