The Meadow of the Honey Woman (Poloniny)
In the Bukov Mountains, on the territory of the Poloniny National Park along the path from Nová Sedlica to the Riabá Skála peak, is a place known as the Meadow of the Honey Woman.
This is a large meadow with a monumental statue of a woman – the Honey Woman. The statue is 7 metres tall and depicts Žofia Maťašovská, a simple modest woman, who was a beekeeper here.
Žofia moved to Nová Sedlica in 1928 and devoted her life to beekeeping. She was celebrated for the quality of her mountain honey – her products were taken to gingerbread makers in Pardubice and chocolate factories in Cologne, Germany. She took care of as many as 80 beehives in this beautiful corner of Slovakia.

Today you can still beautiful nature, views, peace and, of course, meadows full of flowers and herbs..
The site of the Honey Woman is accessible along a marked hiking trail from Nová Sedlica.
